Let’s Become Rich
Well everyone reading this is here trying to make money right? I mean who wouldn’t be looking to make money when visiting a webpage that reads “how it makes you money” am I right. Today we are going to take a look into the world of PLR – Private Label Rights.
Before I go deeper into PLR, I want to take a quick moment to write a little note regarding my own use of PLR. While I enjoy the idea of PLR and may use it for thoughts and ideas, I personally do not have plans to directly use PLR the way I am going to discuss below. I have no concerns about the make money method with PLR but I personally enjoy working on my blog and YouTube more than I do running a click funnel and pure affiliate marketing page.
Now let us get into the article and what we are going to do. We will go over exactly what PLR is and then look at the ways to make money with PLR. I will share a few different sites that I personally have used and some I am an affiliate with. We will then hopefully have some great discussion around people who have used it or are going to give it a try. Please always leave comments when you visit these posts so that I can see what others are trying and learning.
My little self plug: stop back periodically or subscribe to the site and this post to see how things grow over time or if this works at all.
What is PLR
PLR stands for private label rights and it is essentially the ability to take already created articles, ebooks, video content, and coaching courses for resale without violating any copyright or reproduction laws. Anything that is listed with a private label rights license can be collected by you or I and be sold as if we created the content ourselves.
Private Label Rights will give you the power to claim that product as your own.
You can put your name as the sole author, you can put your company’s name as the sole creator — you can even modify, edit and change the product in any way you desire. It’s like you just claimed yourself as the creator of Windows software and Microsoft wouldn’t even dare to argue with you.
With PLR, you can save yourself from tiring research and tedious work in developing a product. In short, you just created your own products without lifting a finger.
One important point to note if you are going to look into this for the first time, When accessing content on a PLR website (I will link some further in this article) not all content is PLR. There are many different types of license for the content so please always review the license type to ensure you are within in the proper rights you are looking for.
Different License Types
As mentioned above, there a re a few different levels of license type which you will run into so let us review them now to ensure we are being thorough.
PLR: Private Label Rights. This is the least restrictive type of content with the most potential applications. PLR rights can vary from vendor to vendor, but usually you can recreate and rebrand PLR products.
MRR: Master Resale Rights. These typically give you the right to resell the content but not to rewrite or rebrand it.
Resale Rights: With resale rights you can still resell the product, but it is again usually more limited than MRR.
Personal Use Rights: These only allow you to use the content for personal purposes, meaning you can’t sell it or do anything else commercial.
Each vendor of PLR content may have a slightly different way of describing how the product can be used but this should cover the general reuse license types.
How do we become rich
After all of my research, I can see how using PLR content can be a very promising way to make money. However, it is also true to say that there is no such thing as a completely ‘perfect’ business model. The biggest limitation here is that you will be going up against a lot of competition. You are not only competing with other sellers in the same niche, you are competing with other sellers that have the exact same product as you do.
While I don’t recommend using PLR for web content such as blog posts or articles directly, I do think it is a good resource for information and idea generation. That said the two main PLR websites I use both claim suggest it can be done for we content as well.
OK, OK, enough about the warnings! How do we make money?
There are so many different ways to do it and I don’t want to turn this in to a 9 hour read so let’s review some of the highlights and if there is interest on this post we can review more detailed posts later.
1. FIND YOUR CONTENT
Simple and easy…… Pick you niche or use your already existing platform and search for related content on the PLR site of your choice
2. DECIDE ON HOW TO USE THE CONTENT
Are you going to reuse it as is with absolutely no editing or are you going to edit to make it your own? A modification of about 30-40% of the article can make your private label article look different from its original piece. Supposedly you used 30% of your time and saved 70% for marketing purpose.
3. MARKET AND DISTRIBUTE THE CONTENT
Once you have the content and you have decided how you want to “make it your own” now it is just a matter of distribution. This can be done so many different ways and with different content. There is also a little limitation based on the license rights provided but overall you can follow any of these potential methods.
– Use the content on a blog or website
– Use the content as an incentive to buy other content, whether as a free bonus or as extra content provided through a paid subscription
– Use the content for an ecourse
– Use the content to sell as a stand alone digital product from a website or print on demand business
– Use the content for a newsletter or autoresponder
In truth the ways to make money are endless and in my opinion it really is a matter of where you are starting from and how much effort you want to put in.
The “AFTER” Thought
First thing first, I did say I would link in some PLR websites. The two main sites I use are PLR.me and IDPLR.com. There are other out there but I prefer both of these and I will gladly promote them to you.
I really believe that PLR is an amazing resource for all of us content creators and for me personally it is a collection of information that I can use to learn more and share with my friends and audience. I do plan to look deeper in to ways to utilize and make money from PLR for myself but I still want to ensure the content is from me and for that reason I will have to update everyone later on what I chose to do.
For now I ask you all to leave some comments about your experience with PLR or how you might be looking to use it in your future.
