In todays technical age, everyone who has access to the internet uses YouTube for a minute to hours out of every day. Whether it is to look up a review for a product, how to do something, or to escape and relax, users around the world spend much of their day on the platform.

Given the easy reach to user around the world, it makes total sense that all of us should learn how to make money on YouTube. The best part is that all you need is some video editing software, a computer, and an idea to get started.

Making money on YouTube is no longer something only a select number of people can do. It is now possible to do it many different way. You just need consistency and the desire to keep going.

There are many approaches you can take with your YouTube journey and there are many article and guides on the internet. One of the methods plastered all over social media is the “NO EFFORT” Nature Sounds videos.

In this article I am going to focus on presenting the nature sounds video method and discuss how to make money on YouTube using little effort.

Let’s get started.

How to make money on YouTube with Nature Sounds

There is not a lot of true “researchable” content with full details on this method. Social media contains a lot of shorts and snippets covering a high level idea. Each of them instruct us to use a site such as Pexels to download free pictures or video, add a royalty free sound on top of it and publish to a YouTube channel.

Sounds easy enough right?

Here are the steps to take as well as my personal plan to this approach,

Step 1: Start a YouTube Channel

This is very easy to do and can be done without a lot of knowledge or time. Creating the channel is not the difficult part of our endeavor but it is the first step. YouTube has their own great tutorials on this step if you need more help.

Every bit of advice from people is that it is important to pick a niche and focus on it for your channel entirety. Finding a niche can be difficult because you want to make sure it is not to saturated and also something you will enjoy making content for.

I am going to create a new channel from scratch, not tied to any of my other channels and using a name outside of my “Logical Thinker” brand. I have decided on the name “CalmingDaily” and if you are interested to follow along with the progress here is the LINK

Step 2: Pick a niche

So every single one of the side hustle videos or stories which this article is based on talk about downloading stock nature videos and placing sound over them.

This could be mixed and done a few different ways to hit one or two niches. For you to make this your own and stand out from the rest, it is important to find a focus for your content.

You can follow the demonstrated approach of doing a simple rain sound with a looped video of it raining. You can also put a twist on it to make it your own by picking a more specific niche like children playing during a rain storm.

Do research and find out how you can better rank in this market. The nature sound video method appears to be very saturated already so there will have to be one or more factors to help you stand out.

I am going to go for the direct nature sound and ambiance niche. We will target relaxation, sleep, health, and possibly even the ASMR community.

Step 3: Create Content

Yes, Yes, Yes, I know this is obvious but you would be surprised how often people skip this step. The thing about content and what I have learned is that it is so important to have a consistent schedule and continue to upload on that schedule even if you are not seeing constant views.

To be honest, this is the difficult part about any YouTube channel because when you first start out, it’s unlikely that anyone is going to see your videos. As long as you keep creating content that your audience will enjoy, YouTube will eventually start recommending your videos to people and they’ll begin subscribing to you.

This is the part where you can only find glimpses across the internet of how people do it. There are many different sources of content but what you need are Royalty Free videos and sounds, a video editing software, and a thumbnail creator.

Pexels.com

Offers a very nice selection of royalty free videos. These videos are user submitted and free to anyone. This does raise concerns and possibility of duplicate video on YouTube. The license terms from Pexels are as follows:

  • All photos and videos on Pexels are free to use.
  • Attribution is not required. Giving credit to the photographer or Pexels is not necessary but always appreciated.
  • You can modify the photos and videos from Pexels. Be creative and edit them as you like.

Mixkit.co

Offers a decent selection of free to use music and sound effects. Most of them are very short and do not loop well however, finding something that works is possible. Mixkit’s free sound license terms are as follows:

  • Items under the Mixkit Sound Effects Free License can be used in your commercial and non-commercial projects for free
  • You are licensed to use the Item to create an End Product that incorporates the Item as well as other things, so that it is larger in scope and different in nature than the Item. You’re permitted to download, copy, modify, distribute and publicly perform the Sound Effect Items on any web or social media platform, in podcasts and in video games, as well as in films and presentations distributed on CDs, DVDs, via TV or radio broadcast or internet based video on demand services.
  • You can’t redistribute the Item on its own, as stock, in a tool or template, or with source files. You’re also not allowed to claim them as your own or register them on any rights management service.

Envato Elements

They have longer sound effects and most of them are engineered to be loop able. The price is steep if you are starting out but since I use this for a lot of my other content I can justify it.

Pricing: $33..00 / month or 16.50/month when paid yearly

Envato’s license terms are as follows:

  • All items on Envato Elements have the same simple license terms. You get broad commercial rights, so you can use items with confidence on work or personal projects.
  • Each time you download an item, you get an ongoing license for a single, specified use. Want to use an item again? No problem! Visit your downloads and simply register it again for a different end use.
  • If you unsubscribe, you can no longer use items from Envato Elements. However, any existing uses that you registered are still covered. Now that’s peace of mind!

Step 3: Meet the YouTube Partner Program Eligibility Requirements

Takes time but eventually you will achieve this. At the time of this writing the requirements to be accepted to the program are

– Your channel needs to have at least 4,000 watch hours of video in the past 12 months before you can apply to monetize your videos.

– You also need to have over 1,000 subscribers to your channel.

There’s no specified timeframe in which to meet these requirements, and once you successfully achieve them, you’ll be able to begin earning from the different YouTube monetization features on your channel.

Step 4: Set up an AdSense account to get paid on YouTube

Once you are accepted your final step is setting up your AdSense account to be able to get paid for the adds shown on your videos. This is fairly easy and straight forward, you can follow

the steps easily and in the end you simply link your AdSense account to your channel in the channel settings menu.
